Laugh if you will, call me old before my time, but I cannot deny that I have a soft spot in my heart for Matlock.  I can distinguish between old episodes of Murder She Wrote from new based on whether Angela Lansbury types on a typewriter or a computer.  Give me 10 minutes of Columbo and I can tell you “whodunnit” based on a differential analysis of Peter Falk’s questioning.  In short, I am a bit of a mystery fanatic.  I have been for as long as I can remember.  I read voraciously as a child, often reading books beyond my understanding.  My parents tried to protect me from any “inappropriate” content and at tag sales would steer me away from the box of romance novels and toward the box of mystery novels.  Agatha Christie was always my favorite – I suppose I am a sucker for the “classics”.  I used to read Miss Marple exclusively, but soon found myself searching out her books starring Hercule Poirot.  I admit that I have watched most, and even own a few, A&E Hercule Poirot movies.

There is no goal to writing this post.  I was just looking at some artwork by Edward Gorey, thinking that my first exposure to it was on PBS’s Mystery! series as child, and thinking about all the mystery shows, cheesy and otherwise, I have loved.
